UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Bob Merchant has announced with mixed emotions he has sold the Merchants True Value store in Union City and is retiring.
Merchant announced on Tuesday that after being in business for almost 100 years, Merchants has been sold to Jeff and Robin Kodet who also owns True Value stores in Livonia, Fowlerville and Williamston.
Merchant says the Kodets are small community minded and are committed to providing customers with the best service they have come to know.
The current employees will stay with the store and Merchant says there will be some new faces as well.
He went on to say the new owners will be an asset to the community and Merchant feels very positive about the future of the store.
In his letter that was posted on the store’s Facebook page, Merchant concluded by thanking the entire community for “your friendship, trust and loyal support over the years.”
