A celebration of Paula’s life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City, with Pastor Darren Brown from World Harvest Church in Quincy officiating. Those attending should wear bright-colored clothing, as it's a celebration. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Lighthouse, just prior to the funeral.
Paula was born on October 13, 1942 in St. Jospeh, MI to Thomas and Sarah (Dunn) Ausley. She attended Calvin Britain and Millburg schools and then graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1960. She married Howard Melrose, Sr., who preceded her in death. They lived in Coloma, MI and had two children, a daughter, Marcey (Bill) Kosachuk of Coldwater, MI, and a son, Howard, Jr. (Kimberly) Melrose of Benton Harbor.
Paula leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Gabriel Kosachuk of Palmer, AK, Abigail Kosachuk, Luke Kosachuk, Ethan Kosachuk, Andrew Kosachuk, Grace Kosachuk, Josiah Kosachuk, Obadiah Kosachuk, Isaac Kosachuk and Breanna Melrose. She dearly loved her family.
On November 14, 1992, Paula married Larry W. Brown, who survives her. Pastor Don Miller officiated the wedding ceremony at First Assembly of God in Benton Harbor, MI, where they were faithful members until February 1996. They then moved to Allen, MI, the Antique Capital, to open up an antique and restoration shop in their home. They faithfully attended and served their Lord at World Harvest Assembly of God in Quincy.
Paula worked at VM (making record players), at Coloma Elementary in the kitchen, at Modern Plastics, and graduated from Twin City Beauty College. It was then that she gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ. She worked as a cosmetologist at the Lion and Ram in St. Joseph, MI. Then she opened and operated her own shop, “Master Designs” in her home in Coloma for 10 years, 1984-1994.
For three years, Paula battled congestive heart failure. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and her church. Whoever she met became a friend from then on. And she poured herself out for family, friends and church through her cooking and selfless giving. If you needed the shirt off her back and she had two, she’d give you one! All Glory to Jesus for saving, using and calling her home to Himself!
Memorial donations are suggested to World Harvest Church, 831 E. Chicago Rd., Quincy, MI 49082.
