BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – No charges will probably be filed in the death of a newborn boy in Battle Creek. Police say the mother did not know she was pregnant. The 32-year-old was on the toilet when the baby came out, to her shock. Family members began CPR on the little boy. The EMT’s who were called out to the home in the Bedford Hills Mobile Home park at 1 am Tuesday continued on the way to the hospital but the baby could not be revived.
Police say the mother weighs 400 lbs., and that might be the reason why the pregnancy might have been missed. Sgt. Jim Martens says they are awaiting the results of an autopsy but they have no reason to believe charges would result.
