COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council was split on Monday night on whether or not the city’s Planning Commission should look into tweaking marijuana ordinances.
Mayor Tom Kramer and others feel grow facilities create an odor problem and he wanted to get input from the City Council before approaching the Planning Commission about what he calls a window of opportunity.
Council Members Emily Rissman and Travis Machan felt there should be no changes.
John Petzko agreed with Rissman and Machan but Council Members Jim Knaack, Scott Houtz, Randall Hazelbaker and Mike Beckwith felt the Planning Commission should at least look into it.
City Attorney Megan Angell pointed out that Special Use Permits have been approved at five locations but only one is moving forward with a building permit or making physical changes to a building.
