CONCORD, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles girls softball team erupted at the plate Thursday afternoon as they swept a Big 8 Conference doubleheader at Concord by scores of 13-5 and 12-7.
Quincy trailed the first game 5-2 heading into the sixth inning before they rallied.
Winning pitcher Danika Skirka went the distance and struck out seven while allowing five hits.
Alyssa McCavit homered and doubled while driving in four runs. Kailey Allman added three hits while Kaylee Modert had two doubles.
The Orioles jumped to an early 11-3 lead and then had to hold off a Yellow Jackets rally.
Danika Skirka once again went the distance to get the win in the circle as she struck out five.
Deziray Skirka drove in five runs on her three hits.
Allman and Modert each doubled and singled. Payton Gross singled twice as the Orioles collected 14 hits.
The Orioles have won four in a row and five of their last six. They now have an overall record of 7-8 and are 5-1 in the Big 8 Conference.
