COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Community Foundation is inviting everyone to attend their annual open house on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Dearth Community Center.
This years event is being called “An Evening of Impact”. Those who attend will be able to celebrate charitable giving and learn about innovative community programs and projects happening in Branch County and Colon.
There will be food, exhibits, great conversation, and more.
The Community Foundation was created in 1991 by five Branch County Rotary Clubs. Many of the early board members had strong relationships to the Colon area, and Branch County was able to create a fund within the existing Colon Foundation, allowing the Foundation to receive donations while they worked on establishing their non-profit status and become certified.
The original offices were in the Plante and Moran building with Ora Jones appointed to be the first Executive Director.
The Branch County Community Foundation started with just $50,000. Three decades later and with support from over 4,000 donors, the endowments reached over $9 million.
The foundation has been located for the past 26 years in the Southern Michigan Bank and Trust building at 2 West Chicago in Downtown Coldwater.
