COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Administrator Bud Norman presented the first draft of the county’s proposed 2024 general fund budget on Thursday during the County Board of Commissioners work session.
The proposed $17-point-7 million budget showed a deficit of about $3-point-1 million which is not as big as last years first draft when it was $3-point-4 million.
Norman said the proposed budget is based on departmental hearings over the last month.
Five budget drafts will be presented to Commissioners before the 2024 spending plan is adopted.
Besides six new Sheriff’s Department road deputies, Commissioners are being requested to fund an open assistant prosecutors position. MSU Extension is once again requesting an addition to their staff.
Norman intends to go over ARPA funding for next year during the next work session.
