QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Monthly water and sewer rates in the Village of Quincy will be going up next April following action on Tuesday night by the Quincy Village Council.
They passed a resolution that stated, “it has been determined that an increase in utility rates is necessary to guarantee the financial solvency of its utility systems and provide for the resources to continue its investment in replacing and upgrading the system.”
The new rates will go into effect on April 1, 2024.
The current village water base rate of $38.46 will increase to $45.14 while the township rate will go from $57.69 to $67.71.
The sewer base rate will go from $28.47 to $30.62 in the village and from $35.59 to $38.27 in the township.
The Village Council also passed a bonding resolution that is not to exceed $954,000. According to the resolution, the funds from the 15-year bond will pay for all or part of the costs of capital improvement items in the Village. Those items include improvements at the iron removal facility, the replacement of a water filtration unit and replacing lead service lines throughout the Village.
