(Reuters) – Gunfire erupted on Friday at a state psychiatric hospital in New Hampshire, leaving multiple victims and the suspect dead, state police and emergency management officials reported.
Few official details were immediately available, but New Hampshire’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management agency said on the messaging platform X the situation had been “contained,” adding, “the suspect is deceased.”
It said the scene, nevertheless, remained “active.”
State police said its officers were investigating the shooting at the New Hampshire State Hospital in Concord, the state capital, and there were “multiple victims.”
Manchester-based television station WMUR-TV quoted a statement from Governor Chris Sununu saying the hospital campus had been “cleared.”
