PORTAGE, MI (WTVB) – After winning district and regional titles for the first time in the program’s history, the Coldwater Cardinals will attempt to punch their ticket to the MHSAA Division Two Boys SoccerFinals Wednesday evening as they’ll face Holland in a state semifinal game at Portage Northern starting at 7:00 p.m.
Coldwater won the district title on their home field and then shut out top-ranked Dexter and unranked Stevensville-Lakeshore to win the regional championship at Marshall last week.
The seventh-ranked Cardinals will bring a 22-3-1 record into the semifinals.
The eighth-ranked Dutch are 17-5-2. They won the Holland Christian districts before defeating Muskegon Reeths-Puffer 8-0 and Grand Rapids Christian 2-0 in the regional tournament on their home field.
The winner of the Holland-Coldwater game will face either East Lansing or Farmington Hills Harrison on Saturday for the state championship.
Tonight’s match will be broadcast live on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB beginning at 6:40 p.m.
