COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater woman who was charged with five counts after she allegedly shot her daughter during an argument in their home on January 26, 2023 is scheduled go on trial on Tuesday in Branch County Circuit Court.
65-year-old Kathleen Annette Rowe is facing charges of discharging a firearm in a building causing serious impairment, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and felony firearm.
A plea agreement was rejected by the defendant in October.
Rowe was accused of shooting her 33-year-old daughter Kacey Stringer in the abdomen. Stringer was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne where she stayed for over two weeks after she was shot.
Rowe claimed self-defense after she was arrested after the shooting on Pamela Drive. Stringer testified during a District Court preliminary exam she made no threats against her mother.
The Branch County Circuit Court jury trial is scheduled to last three days.
