BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – There are now four contested races in the August Republican Primary for seats on the Branch County Board of Commissioners.
As of Thursday, Commission Chair Tim Stoll is unopposed as he seeks another term as the District Three Commissioner.
There are now three candidates for the District Four seat currently occupied by Tom Matthew who is not seeking another term as County Commissioner. They are Richard Swanson, Rick Hollister and Karen McGraw. McGraw announced her candidacy on Wednesday.
Matthew is running for the 35th District State House seat currently occupied by Andrew Fink.
Fifth District County Commissioner Alan McClellan is being challenged by David Mansfield, District One Commissioner Randall Hazelbaker is being challenged by Jessica Green while District Two Commissioner Jon Houtz is being challenged by John Towers.
The three candidates for Sheriff are still Michael Thyng, Robin Swartz and Fred Blankenship.
County Clerk Terry Kubasiak, Prosecutor Zach Stempien, Drain Commissioner Mike Hard, Surveyor Ed Reed, Register of Deeds Nikki DeLoach and Treasurer Steven Rutz are unopposed as of Thursday.
At last report, no Democratic Party candidates have filed.
The filing deadline to get on the August primary ballot is April 23.
