COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Historic District Commission meeting that was originally scheduled for this past Wednesday has been moved to Monday evening.
The Commission is scheduled to consider three downtown projects that are in line for $112,500 in grants that will be used for facade renovations.
The Coldwater Main Street Program announced the awards on March 20 for projects at 49 West Chicago Street, Jeannie’s Diner and at Southern Roots Salon & Spa.
Once the Commission approves the projects and confirm they follow the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation, those receiving awards will execute grant agreements with Coldwater Main Street before beginning project work which must be completed by the end of the year.
According to a Coldwater Main Street press release, the selected projects include restoration of 11 historic non-functioning windows; mansard roof removal; three updated and/or refreshed paint schemes; tuck pointing and stucco repair; and some building maintenance.
The news release went on to state that net private investment tied to the projects is expected to exceed $260,000, with total project costs nearing $375,000.
The program is funded by a $75,000 grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and $37,500 in matching funds from Coldwater Main Street.
