QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – A home in Branch County’s Butler Township was gutted by fire over the weekend. There were no injuries in the Sunday afternoon blaze but the single story structure and most of the contents of the residence on Clarendon Road north of Bidwell Road were declared a total loss.
The Quincy Fire Department Facebook page said firefighters were able to rescue 5 dogs and 2 cats from the home and that none of the people living there were in any danger from the flames. The name of the owner of the house was not released.
The fire started in an outdoor BBQ smoker on an attached deck at the rear of the residence.
The Quincy Fire Department, which received mutual aid from the Litchfield Fire Department, was on the job for nearly 3-and-a-half hours after the alarm came around 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Michigan State Police and Life Care Ambulance assisted and the Branch County Sheriff’s Department Victim Services Unit was also called to the scene.
