COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater woman was placed on probation for 18 months Monday in Branch County Circuit Court for her part in a case involving the illegal use of Adderal.
41-year-old Gretchen Alldredge entered a guilty plea two months ago to an amended charge of possession of an analog after prosecutors initially filed 18 counts against her.
Judge Bill O’Grady suspended a 12 month jail sentence and gave her credit for 22 days already served in jail.
All other charges were dropped by prosecutors in exchange for her guilty plea.
Alldredge had initially agreed to testify against co-defendant Doctor Christina Whitaker if the Whitaker case got to trial.
Whitaker was ordered to serve six months in jail and was placed on probation for 18 months after entering guilty pleas to two counts of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud. She also surrendered her medical license to the State of Michigan and it has been permanently revoked.
According to a Coldwater Police Department investigation, Whitaker was accused of writing prescriptions for Adderall to Alldredge. Authorities allege that Alldredge in turn tried to buy the Adderall for Whitaker.
Prosecutor Ralph Kimble pointed out that Alldredge’s help during the investigation led to Whitaker losing her license and recommended Alldredge continue her rehabilitation.
It has been a difficult and heartbreaking summer for Alldredge’s family. Her stepson Zachary died August 1, 2017 from injuries he suffered in a traffic accident at River and Union City Roads.
