COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – City officials were informed on Friday that there will be a slight delay in the completion of the Grand and Church Street reconstruction project which means Grand will not re-open in time for the start of school in Coldwater on August 22nd as originally thought.
The push back will affect the first and maybe the second week of the school year.
In his report to the City Council for Monday night’s meeting, City Manager Keith Baker said in the course of a week it has become apparent that Grand Street will not be ready when school starts as previously thought and announced.
Baker stated that, “between a weather delay back in June and a delay in the arrival of a subcontractor, the road will not be ready in time for the opening of the school year. We apologize for the recent inaccurate report and any inconvenience that this may cause.”
Drivers and pedestrians are still being urged to use caution around the construction zone.
