Howard “Lee” Malakoff, 69, of Quincy passed away suddenly Thursday, September 19, 2024 at his home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 27, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home -George White Chapel in Quincy with Pastor Josh Englehart officiating.
Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy.
Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
He was born November 26, 1954, in Morristown, NJ. He married Annette “Winkie” Kimble (Strauss) on October 15, 2015, and she survives.
Lee was a man of many talents. He owned and operated a business crafting pool cues, bridges and racks, especially known for the line named after his daughter, Brianna.
Lee also owned and operated Jack Russell Leather which manufactured leather products geared towards the conceal carry industry, including holsters, belts, and wallets.
He was a lover of animals, especially his Jack Russell Terriers.
Lee led an adventurous life. As a child, he often traveled abroad with his father on business trips. He lived in New Jersey through his childhood and into his adult years. He attended Arthur Johnson High School in Clark, New Jersey and went on to complete several trade schools for auto body repair.
Lee stopped in Michigan in 1978 to visit an old buddy on his way to Montana, and ended up staying. He opened his own body shop (Hillsdale Body) in Hillsdale in 1985. He then went on to start several businesses of a variety of fields.
He was a movie buff as well, often quoting classic movie lines with his sons, Joe and Nick.
More than anything, Lee was extremely proud of his children and all they have achieved. He would often end their conversations by expressing how proud he was of their successes.
Surviving besides his wife, Winkie are three children, Brianna (Patrick) Nwekwo of Fort Wayne, Joseph Louis (Stevie Jellis) Malakoff of Thermopolis, WY, Nicholas Lee Malakoff of Coldwater, as well as three step children, Heather (Josue) Clermont of Deltona, FL, Caleb (Audra) Nickerson of Quincy and Hawley (Jeremy) Monahan of Waldron; and former wife, Kelly Linscott Medina; grandchildren, Adaeze, Chidera, Isabelle, Olivier, Gabrielle, Mason, Taylor, Noah and Owen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Howard and Dororthy (Zelinski) Malakoff.
