James Ora “Buddy” Collins, 64, of Union City passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
In keeping with Buddy’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
The family is hosting a Celebration of Life Saturday, October 12, 2024 starting at 2:00 p.m. at Buddy’s house, 107 W. Girard Road, Union City, MI, 49094.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation of Union City.
Buddy was born on October 14, 1959 to Ora and Irene (Egan) Collins in Coldwater, Michigan. He attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School in Coldwater until 8th grade. He then transferred to Coldwater High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1977.
Buddy worked as a laborer for Swift-Eckrich Meats in Quincy and then Tribal Manufacturing in Marshall. Buddy lived in the Coldwater area for most of his life.
Buddy enjoyed golf, softball, concerts, and bowling. He lived life to the fullest. He worked hard and played hard. He was very social and outgoing. Buddy battled cancer for many years. His dogs were very important to him, especially “Buddy”, his favorite dog. They had a special connection.
Buddy is survived by his son Shane Collins of Union City; his grandchildren, Madison, James, and Lauren; his brother Joe Collins of Union City; his ex-wife and good friend, Kim Haftke, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Buddy is preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Collins and Danny Collins; and his sister Maryann Hanson.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family to assist with final expenses.
