COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The cases involving two Fort Wayne men who were arrested just over a year ago after a pair of recreational travel trailers were stolen from Bish’s RV in Coldwater were on the Branch County Circuit Court docket for Monday.
27-year-old Robert Earl Baylock and 21-year-old Nicholas Shanyfelt were apprehended in Waterloo, Indiana following the November 5, 2023 theft.
Shanyfelt was sentenced to five months in the Branch County Jail after he entered a guilty plea to a charge of receiving and concealing stolen property between $1,000 and $20,000. In exchange, prosecutors dropped a charge of larceny over $20,000. He was also placed on probation for two years and given credit for 15 days already served in jail.
Baylock was charged with two counts of larceny. He is scheduled to go on trial on February 25 after turning down a plea offer.
Both men had criminal cases filed in DeKalb County, Indiana where they were arrested by the Indiana State Police and other law enforcement agencies.
A change of plea hearing for Shanyfelt is scheduled for Wednesday. He is facing charges of auto theft, resisting law enforcement and possession of marijuana.
Baylock has already been given a 30 day jail sentence in DeKalb County for resisting law enforcement. Four other charges were dismissed by Indiana prosecutors.
