WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTVB) – Seventh District Republican Congressman Tim Walberg was among those on Monday who voted in favor of a bipartisan Coronavirus relief package.
It passed the House by a 359-53 vote and later won approval in the U.S. Senate before heading to President Trump’s desk.
According to a statement from Walberg’s office, the legislation repurposes over $560 billion in unspent CARES Act and Paycheck Protection Program funding to reduce the overall cost to taxpayers.
Walberg said, “With the recent approval of two vaccines and a COVID relief deal in hand, we are ending this incredibly trying year on a hopeful note.”
He criticized House Speaker Nancy Pelosi saying it was unfortunate she blocked this latest targeted relief for months on end.
Walberg added, “While today’s bill is not perfect, Michigan families in the midst of hard times cannot wait until the new year for relief.”
