COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – If you got a sled or skiing equipment for Christmas, it may be awhile before you get a chance to use them.
Winter sports enthusiasts in southern Michigan are anxiously waiting for the ground to turn white.
It was a green Christmas around Branch County this year. The website www.accuweather.com says Coldwater has gotten only 1.1 inches of snow this month and the temperatures have averaged out to be five degrees above normal for December.
As of last Friday, less than two inches of snow had fallen in Grand Rapids making it the second least snowy December in the history of the city.
The high in Coldwater on Wednesday, the day after Christmas, reached 48 degrees as recorded at the Branch County Memorial Airport. It was the 12th day this month the high has been at least 40 degrees in Coldwater. The high has been above freezing every day since December 9th.
