COLDWATER,.MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater Township teenager is facing four counts of criminal sexual conduct following an alleged sexual assault during a party earlier this month.
17-year-old Matthew Siler is being held on a $150,000 bond following his arraignment in Branch County District Court Thursday.
Siler was arrested following a Coldwater Police Department investigation into the alleged December 5, 2018 incident involving a 14-year-old girl.
Court documents indicate other party goers were unsuccessful in their attempts to get the suspect to stop. At one point, a friend of the alleged victim reportedly cut Siler in the back with a pocket knife. A police report also indicates Siler and other teens were drinking alcohol at the party.
One of the four charges against Siler is first degree criminal sexual conduct.
A probable cause hearing was scheduled for December 27, 2018, with a preliminary exam January 2, 2019.
