Edward Michael “Ed” DeLisle, Sr., 87, of Athens passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit under hospice care.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail, Union City, MI, with Deacon John Wielgos officiating. Interment will follow at Burr Oak Cemetery in Athens.
Visitation will be held just prior to the service Tuesday from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., also at the Lighthouse in Union City.
Ed was born December 21, 1937 to Edward W. and Anne (Manick) DeLisle in Wyandotte, Michigan. He graduated from Tecumseh High School with the Class of 1955. Following high school, Ed proudly served in the United States Army from June of 1955 to May of 1958.
June 22, 1990, he married Mary Finton. She preceded him in death April 2, 2024. Together they helped with the family business, Ed’s Auto Sales & Service, in Union City for several years.
In 1997, the couple moved to Bullhead City, Arizona to enjoy the beautiful weather and sunshine. Ed and Mary moved back to Michigan in 2018 to be closer to family and made their home in Athens.
Ed enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, as well as taking trips to the casino and watching NASCAR. He also enjoyed farming, admiring Dodge Cars, discussing politics, and even picked up a hobby career in becoming a realtor in his retirement for several years down in Arizona.
Ed is survived by his children, Cynthia (Don) Hicks of Sherwood, Edward (Amy) DeLisle, Jr. of Union City, and Greg (Lisa) DeLisle of Union City; his stepchildren, Rebecca (Dan) Ward of Battle Creek and Robin (Francisco) Sanchez of Bullhead City, AZ; his 13 grandchildren; his 7 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Marlene Govang of North Royalton, OH, Pat McCabe of Clinton, MI, Margi (Murl) Weidelich of Apache Junction, AZ, Mike (Vicki) DeLisle of Onsted, MI, Jim (Joy) DeLisle of Grass Lake, MI, Diane Powell of Jackson, MI and Dan (Pilar) DeLisle, Brighton, MI.
In addition to his wife Mary, Ed was preceded in death by parents; and siblings, Micki DeLisle and Kathryn Woodward.
