Steven Lee Houghton, 65, of Bronson passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Ft. Wayne, IN.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
He was born February 29, 1960 to Elmer Houghton and Judith Hopkins in Coldwater, MI.
Steve dedicated many years of his life to Douglas Autotech, where he was respected for his hard work, reliability, and good humor.
Outside of work, his greatest joy came from being involved in his family’s lives. He spent countless seasons coaching Little League baseball and softball, often for his own children’s teams instilling not only the fundamentals of the game, but also the values of teamwork and sportsmanship.
An avid outdoorsman, Steve loved spending time hunting and fishing, and he could often be found on the golf course enjoying friendly competition and camaraderie in his golf leagues.
More than anything, Steve cherished his role as a grandfather. His happiest moments were spent cheering from the sidelines at his grandchildren’s sporting events, beaming with pride at every play. His warmth, laughter, and steadfast love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Steven leaves behind his children Nicole (Jody Houtz) Houghton of Coldwater, MI, Marissa (Joe) Leny, Nicholas (Dori Reaper) Houghton both of Bronson, MI; his father Elmer (Jackie) Houghton of Gun Lake, MI; his siblings Robin (Bryan) Schultz of Chicago, IL, Kenneth (Elaine Lirot) Houghton of Bronson, MI; his grandchildren Jayden Leny, Seth VanStelle, Bella Houghton; his nephews Henry and Jack Schultz; and his beloved dog Bud.
He was preceded in death by his mother Judith Daughenbaugh, his stepfather Sam Daughenbaugh, and the mother of his daughters Angela Rinehart.
