COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – With the combination of snow on nearly a daily basis combines with very cold temperatures clearing the roads becomes more of a challenge for area road crews.
Branch County Road Commission Manager/Engineer Jay Miller says although they are able to plow the snow treating the ice becomes more challenging in the colder weather.
Miller says when the temperatures continuously drop to or below zero the traditional salt treatments become less effective.
Road crews will have another challenging week ahead with several shots of light snow and more brutally cold temperatures in the forecast, the low on Thursday night is expected to reach the negative double digits and we aren’t expected to get above 20 degrees until at least Sunday.
