QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Another suspect has been arrested for a home invasion earlier this year in Branch County which led to one of the occupants of the residence shooting at the suspects. The crime occurred in the early morning hours of March 28 Algansee Township.
19-year old Bryceton Vanscoder was arraigned yesterday in Branch County District Court on charges of second degree attempted home invasion and second degree conspiracy to commit home invasion with his bond set at $100,000.
Fellow suspect, 20-year Branden Swander, is facing the exact same charges with the same bond in connection with the crime. Swander was arraigned July 2.
Vanscoder was picked up yesterday by Michigan State Police in Ohio at a State Correctional facility in Marion while Swander was taken into custody by MSP in June at a county jail in Sandusky, Ohio.
The owner of the home on Burlew Road where the March incident happened said at the time she thought the men who tried to bust into her house must have been looking for the previous owner, because they have no enemies, and nothing worth stealing.
A home occupant grabbed a gun and opened fire, hitting a 19-year old suspect. The suspect who was struck suffered a non-life threatening chest wound and at last word was in custody according to the State Police, who say the case remains under investigation.
