ADRIAN, MI (WTVB) – The Adrian Police Department is investigating a man who allegedly threatened to “shoot up the school” at Adrian College on Wednesday evening.
Police were dispatched to the campus at approximately 7:20 p.m. following reports of a masked individual making violent threats. The college immediately implemented its emergency response protocol, placing the campus on lockdown as a perimeter was established near Pellowe Hall and the Arrington Ice Arena by local and state authorities.
Investigators identified the male suspect, who was already known to law enforcement, and located him after expanding their search.
Although the man consented to a search and no weapons were found, police determined the incident stemmed from an argument between the suspect and a passerby near the college roundabout.
The suspect was released pending a formal charging decision by the Lenawee County Prosecutor’s Office. Authorities have since cleared the scene and assured the public there is no ongoing threat to the college or surrounding community.
