COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – While Coldwater Police continue investigating the shooting death of a 17-year-old Coldwater High School student who died Thursday morning, Coldwater Community Schools issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss of one of its high school students.
Superintendent Paul Flynn extended condolences to the student’s family, friends, classmates, and the entire school community, acknowledging the difficult emotions the tragedy has brought..
Flynn said the district is actively supporting students and staff during this time of grief. Counselors, social workers, as well as therapy dogs and additional support personnel are available in the schools to provide care and guidance.

It also provides guidance on warning signs to watch for, such as sudden changes in mood or behavior, withdrawal, sleep or appetite changes, increased anxiety, or statements of hopelessness, and advises seeking immediate help if needed.
Flynn urged the community to come together with compassion while respecting the family’s privacy during this incredibly difficult time. The investigation into the circumstances of the shooting remains ongoing.
