BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The city of Bronson is gearing up for the 56th Annual Bronson Polish Festival that kicks off this Thursday.
The three-day celebration honors the rich cultural heritage of the Polish immigrants who settled the southern Michigan region in the early 1900s.
Candy Cox is president of the Polish Festival Council says this years theme ties in with the 250th birthday celebrations of the United States
Festivities will launch on Thursday evening at St. Mary’s Gym with the traditional opening ceremonies and the crowning of the festival’s new royal court.
As for the weekend you can look forward to a jam-packed couple of days featuring polka music, street dancing, an expansive downtown craft market, and a massive fireworks display lighting up the sky over Bronson High School on Friday night.
Cox says the festival will have no shortage of food including traditional polish favorites
Saturday afternoon will feature the annual parade down Chicago Street, showcasing antique tractors, marching units, and the city’s entire fleet of fire trucks.
The weekend wraps up with competitive sports tournaments and the grand Big Money Raffle.
