MATTESON TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says a 30-year-old Colon man was killed in a single vehicle crash early Friday morning.

Around 4:45 a.m. deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on Colon Road near Whitmore Road in Matteson Township for an iPhone Crash Detection.

Apon arrival deputies discovered a 2024 Chevrolet Malibu had run off the road and struck a tree on Colon Road just west of Whitmore Road, deputies say the unidentified driver was the only occupant in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Department was assisted by The Bronson Fire Department, The St Joseph County Sheriff’s Department, Branch County Central Dispatch,Life Care Ambulance, The Branch County Road Commission and VIP Towing.
