ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – The National Weather Service confirms two tornadoes hit between Angola and Pleasant Lake, Indiana Saturday night.
One was a weak EF-1 tornado with a top wind speed of 105 miles an hour. It was on the ground for nine-tenths of a mile between 6:34 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. The maximum width was 375 yards. It caused widespread extensive tree damage and knocked down trees along railroad tracks. Minor roof damage to a few structures was also reported. The tornado lifted near South Kankamp Road and Shadow Lake Drive before it got into a residential area just south of Angola.
A weak but multi-funnel EF-0 tornado was only on the ground for a minute. It had peak wind speeds of 80 miles an hour. It’s path was about 200 yards wide and seven-tenths of a mile long. Witnesses say it touched down in an empty field and then intensified somewhat as it rapidly tracked east northeast removing a portion of a roof.
