The incident occurred on Mosherville Road in Scipio Township when the mixed-breed pit bull-mastiff animals broke a lock on their outdoor enclosure and escaped.
The dogs initially ambushed the young girl while she was riding a scooter , prompting her adult cousin Jannell Boot to intervene. Both victims suffered severe lacerations across their bodies and faces, requiring the 12-year-old to be airlifted to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor for emergency treatment.
According to the Hillsdale County Prosecutor’s Office, the dogs’ owner, Holley Krasnodemski, and her son ultimately assisted in pulling the animals away and securing them back inside.
