COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Michigan’s statewide early in-person voting period is in its final weekend ahead of the upcoming primary election.
In Branch County, local election officials have consolidated all early voting operations at a single central hub, the Dearth Community Center in Coldwater.
According to Branch County Clerk Terry Kubasiak, the early voting process mirrors traditional voting, allowing participants to directly insert their completed ballots into tabulators, though valid photo identification is required at check-in.
The primary ballot features federal, statewide, and local contests. Voters will be selecting candidates for positions including Michigan Governor, a U.S. Senate seat, and the 5th Congressional District, as well as State Senate and State Representative.
Locally, Branch County residents are deciding primary nominations for Circuit Court Judge and a special race for Branch County Prosecuting Attorney.
Election officials remind participants that state law strictly prohibits split-ticket voting in a primary, meaning voters must stick to candidates within a single political party for their ballots to be counted.
Early voting at the Dearth Center is from 8-4 both Saturday and Sunday.
