COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The 25th annual Great Hospice Duck Race, which raises funds for ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital’s hospice program, will take place Saturday at Waterworks Park in Coldwater.
Activities will start at 10:00 a.m.. The Ducknitary Race starts at 12:30 p.m. with the Main Race at 1:15 p.m..
The first prize is $2,018 in cash donated by Dutcher Funeral Home of Coldwater and Bronson.
Second prize is a camping adventure donated by Haylett’s Auto and R.V. and Waffle Farm Campground.
Third prize is a family bronze golf membership donated by Coldwater Golf Course.
Those whose ducks they bought finish in the top 34 will get a prize.
Last year’s raised just under $38,000 which was an increase of about $3,000 from the previous year.
All proceeds go to support patient and volunteer service programs. The hospice program relies on grants and community donations to support services for patients who have little or no insurance.
Many volunteers work on the fundraising effort. The event has annually attracted hundreds of sponsors and donations from the community.
Duck race tickets for Saturday’s race have been sold in recent weeks at many locations around Branch County for $5 apiece.
