COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County residents are bracing for earlier sunsets as Daylight Saving Time officially draws to a close this upcoming weekend.
At 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, local clocks will “fall back” one hour, signaling the annual return to Eastern Standard Time.
While the shift does give us an extra hour of sleep over the weekend, the primary tradeoff will be felt in the afternoons, with darkness arriving noticeably sooner.
, Saturday’s sunset will linger until roughly 6:30 p.m., but by Sunday evening, nightfall will abruptly arrive just after 5:30 p.m.
Emergency officials are utilizing the seasonal transition to remind Branch County households that the clock change is the perfect time to perform routine home safety checks. Residents are encouraged to replace the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
