LANSING, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) has initiated a weeklong system shutdown, temporarily disabling all online, phone, and local office services starting today at 4:30 p.m. through Monday, November 9, at 8:00 a.m.
This intentional downtime period is required to permanently retire the agency’s decade-old Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM) system and its phone-based counterpart, MARVIN. During this transition, UIA staff will transfer historical and current claimant records into a brand new, mobile-friendly platform called MiUI.
All physical local UIA offices and customer service hotlines will remain closed to the public throughout the week while the migration takes place.
Claimants who were unable to certify their work search activities and availability prior to the Monday afternoon deadline are being warned that their upcoming benefit payments may face delays.
However, the UIA has confirmed that workers who missed the window will be given the opportunity to retroactively certify for past weeks once the MiUI system officially launches on November 9.
When the new portal goes live, users will access it via the state’s existing MiLogin system, introducing a major procedural shift: biweekly certifications will be discontinued in favor of a weekly schedule, and filing or certifying entirely by standard phone calls will no longer be permitted.
