COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Casey Adams says his yearly contract to coach the boys varsity basketball team at Coldwater High School is not being renewed.
Adams says he was told of the decision last Thursday afternoon during a meeting with Athletic Director Todd Farmer and Superintendent Terry Boguth.
Adams said the decision was “mind boggling” adding that district officials had not told him previously that he had violated any district policies. Farmer did not return our phone call on Tuesday but Boguth left a voice message saying it was not in the best interest of the district for Adams to continue as coach.
Adams had been the Coldwater boys coach since 2015. The Cardinals were 27-17 in his two seasons which included a 16-7 record in 2016-2017.
Adams runs the Team Focus youth basketball program out of Fort Wayne for youngsters between the second and 12th grades.
With his contract in Coldwater not being renewed, Adams says he will concentrate more of his time on that program as well as on his family.
