BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School varsity soccer team improved its record to 9-2 on the season with an 8-0 mercy rule win at Battle Creek Pennfield Thursday. It was the Cardinals third straight shutout.
Jon Brownell had 2 goals and one assist in the win. Other Cardinal goals came from Ahmed Saied, Tyler Kooi, Shihab Abdulrab, Ahmed Mohsen, Mohamed Nagi, and Mohamed Saleh.
Other assists came Ahmed Mohsen, Shaif Ahmed, Anas Asker, Nasser Nagi, and Bakeel Abdullah. Balal Nasser made one save in goal as Coldwater outshot Pennfield 11-1.
The Cardinals are now 1-1 in the Interstate 8 Conference. They will host Sturgis in non conference action Saturday.
The Coldwater junior varsity team defeated Harper Creek 8-0. Leading the scoring was freshman Daniel Aburto with 2 goals and Cade Lawrence with 2 goals. Abe Aljaji, Angel Rodriquez, Koby Stewart, and Angel Sereno added one goal each.

Alex Pickell had a hat trick for the Orioles with Luke Hollenbaugh contributing a goal and an assist. The Orioles are back in action Monday at home against Hillsdale at 5:30 p.m.
