COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man entered into a plea agreement this week during a preliminary examination in Branch County District Court following a domestic incident at a North Monroe Street apartment on September 17th.
A court spokesperson says 55-year-old Dennis Blount entered a no contest plea to a charge of possession of a firearm while under the influence. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dismissed two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.
Coldwater Police said at the time that Blount called Branch County 911 Central Dispatch to report he had been bitten by a pit bull. Officers say the dog attacked him because Blount was threatening his girlfriend who was the dog’s owner.
Officers reported they found Blount highly intoxicated while he was holding the weapon.
Blount is scheduled to be sentenced on November 19th
