BETHEL TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater woman and two children were injured Monday afternoon in a Bethel Township rollover accident.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department reports the crash took place at about 3:00 p.m. on Batavia Road near Lockwood Road.
According to a Sheriff’s Department news release, 36-year-old Loraine Smurr tried to avoid hitting a deer which had run into the road.
Smurr lost control of her vehicle. It left the road, went into a ditch and rolled at least once in a plowed field.
Smurr reported she was thrown from the vehicle while it was rolling. Her 12 and five year old daughters had been secured inside. All three were outside of the vehicle when deputies arrived.
Deputies provided medical care until LifeCare and Bronson Medical First Responder’s from the Bronson Fire Department arrived and took over.
The children were treated for minor injuries and released to family members at the scene. Smurr had more serious injuries and was taken by LifeCare Ambulance to Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.
