The Tigers have named Phil Neven manager of their Triple A team at Toledo, replacing Larry Parrish, who left to become the Brave’s batting coach. And Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera has won the American League first baseman Silver Slugger Award, which goes to the best offensive player at each position as voted on by the league’s managers and coaches.
