BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – A Matteson Township resident, whose actions are being credited with helping to save the life of a man who was electrocuted almost a year ago, will be honored Friday afternoon.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office will honor Kevin Miller with the Sheriff’s Silver Star Award during a ceremony at the Matteson Township Hall on M-86 starting at 3:00 p.m.
The Sheriff’s Office says Miller helped save the life of 35-year-old Jason Easterday of Union City after Easterday was shocked by a 440 volt line while he was working on a water irrigation pivot on a farm in the western part of Branch County that Miller owns.
Miller performed CPR on Easterday and called 911 for help when the incident took place on West Colon Road east of Culver Road which is near the Branch-St. Joseph County line.
The Silver Star Award is the highest honor the Sheriff’s Department presents to a civilian.
