COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Former Quincy school teacher and Information Technology Director Jason Ferrell is scheduled to be sentenced on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered no contest pleas November 27, 2017 to two counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct.
Ferrell was originally charged with six counts after he had sexual relations in 2016 with a former female student of his.
Third degree criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum prison sentence of 15 years.
In exchange for Ferrell’s pleas, two other third Degree CSC counts as well as two first Degree CSC charges are being dismissed by prosecutors. In addition, prosecutors will pursue no further charges pertaining to the victim in these cases.
Ferrell entered the pleas just over a week before he was scheduled to on trial.
His case resulted in a storm of controversy for nearly the last year in the Quincy School District as administrators were accused of mismanaging accusations made about Ferrell and that they did nothing even when red flags were raised long before his arrest last April.
