UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – A fire early Sunday caused the evacuation of Riverbend Apartments in Union City. The blaze was reported at 2:20 a.m. yesterday.
Branch County Central Dispatch said there was heavy smoke damage in two of the apartments but there were no injuries reported. The 27-unit complex is located on North Drive where Union City Village Police and Michigan State Police helped with the evacuation.
According to Central Dispatch, the Athens and Burlington Fire Departments were called to the scene for mutual aide. Union City firefighters were on the job for about 45 minutes.
No further information on the blaze was available.
