COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The future is promising for a pair of Coldwater Legg Middle School students who were in the spotlight this week. The boy and the girl who are in the 8th grade at Legg Middle School appeared at yesterday’s Coldwater Early Bird Exchange meeting.
During the school year, the Club honors those who are selected by their teachers as Students of the Month with an Exchange Club Young Citizenship award. Receiving their special plaques on Wednesday were Nathan Tappenden and Fatima Naji. Carol Borden, past Club President, made the presentations beginning with Tappenden, who was December Student of the Month.
Borden said Nathen leads by example, setting the tone for the behavior of his peers, encouraging others to strive for more while being no stranger to hard work, giving his best effort each day in class. Tappenden plans to pursue a career in architecture after graduating from high school.
Naji was the January Student of the Month and Borden said Fatima is prepared for class, demonstrating an eagerness and enthusiasm for learning on a daily basis and described her as a very kind hearted young lady. After high school, Fatima looks to attend either Trine University or the University of Michigan for a career in the profession of helping others.
