Ralph Warren Grandy, 77, of Coldwater, passed away on Friday,
April 26, 2019 at Promedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
A celebration of Ralph’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on
Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Union City. Visitation will be
held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Lighthouse Funeral &
Cremation in Union City.
Ralph was born on November 20, 1941 in Maplehurst, WI to Howard
and Lucille (Johnson) Grandy. He graduated from Owen High School in Medford, WI
in 1959 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. On March 13, 1971 he married the
former Carolyn Sowle at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Union City. She preceded
him in death in 2003. He later married Gloria Jean McLatcher on July 29, 2006
at Lockwood Community Church. She survives.
Ralph worked at Midwest Foundry in Coldwater, Albright Building
Supplies in Union City and Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater, from
where he retired from the maintenance department in 2007. Ralph attended
Lockwood Community Church and collected war memorabilia. He enjoyed playing
cards, woodworking, going to yard sales and spending time with family.
In addition to his wife, Gloria, Ralph is survived by his
children, Keith (Zebbra) Palmerton of Union City, Steve Palmerton of Coldwater,
Marilyn (Roy) Hansen of Battle Creek, Penni (Robert) Guthrie of Union City,
Rachel (Michael) Hobbs of Miamisburg, OH and Shannon (Chris) Gregor of Seattle,
WA; his siblings, Mary (Guy) Langfeldt and Brenda (Jim) Becker of Wisconsin,
along with many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, one great-great
grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Ralph was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn; as well
as his parents; his brother, Paul Mark Grandy; his son, Bill Palmerton; his
daughter-in-law, Ginger Palmerton; and his grandchildren, Chris Palmerton and
Bridget Moore.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Promedica Community
Cancer Center in Coldwater, 370 E. Chicago Street, Coldwater, MI 49036.
