Valerie Lake, 66, of Coldwater, passed away Friday, September 4, 2020 at home under the care of her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service celebrating Val’s life will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 16,2020 at the First Baptist Church of Tekonsha, 914 N. Main Street, Tekonsha, MI 49092.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 from 5-8 P.M., also at the church.
Val was born on December 30, 1953 to James and Dorice (Shepherd) Cain in Charlotte, MI. She graduated from Bellevue High School with the Class of 1972. On September 2, 2005 she married Ronald Lake in Battle Creek. Val worked at Tekonsha Engineering as a line leader, retiring after 20 years in the early 2000’s. She was a true animal lover and even helped start an animal rescue “Save Our Strays” while living in Texas. Val also enjoyed shopping, yard sales, riding motorcycles, and dancing.
Surviving are her husband Ron Lake of Coldwater, children, Tara (Derek) Coats of Coldwater, Derek (Autumn) Strang of Tekonsha, Jami (Mike) Leatherman of Jonesville, Jessica (Mark) Wright of Portland, OR, Brad Lake of NC, grandchildren, Nathan, Collin, Hannah, Jackson, Lucille, Isabella, Cameron, Audrey, Brady and a brother Richard (Shelly) Cain of IN. She was preceded in death by her parents.
