Coldwater’s Hostetler qualifies as National Merit Scholarship semifinalist

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater High School senior has qualified as a semifinalist in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Tate Hostetler is one of only about 16,000 semifinalists across the country.

High School Principal Bill Milnes reported to the Coldwater School Board on Monday night that Hostetler now has an opportunity to continue in the competition for nearly 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million.

Finalists for the scholarships will be announced in the spring.

Milnes says Hostetler qualified based on his performance in the national PSAT and SAT tests.
