COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Public input for the Branch County Hazard Mitigation Plan will take place during an open house that will be held by the County on Tuesday, October 20 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Heritage Hall in Heritage Park.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend the meeting. Social distancing practices will be followed.
According to a press release from the City of Coldwater, the purpose of the public meeting is to solicit information from citizens in an open-house setting.
Potential hazards included are flood, extreme heat, thunderstorm, wind, lightning, drought, tornados, hail, winter storms, wildfires and dam failures.
The Hazard Mitigation Plan aims to minimize or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from known hazards by identifying and implementing cost-effective mitigation actions.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency defines mitigation as sustained actions taken to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property from hazards and their effects.
The draft Hazard Mitigation Plan can be downloaded from the Branch County web site and reviewed prior to the meeting.
