ALLENDALE MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A group of people who tarred and feathered a controversial statue of a Confederate soldier in Allendale are defending their actions.
The statue, located in the Veteran’s Garden of Honor in Allendale Township, has been the subject of heated discussion over its removal, and was covered in black paint and feathers Friday.
The Michigan Association of Civil Rights Activists and Justice for Black Lives were involved in the incident.
Members of each group have said that the statue represents soldiers who were traitors and not veterans, and should be removed from the park.
